Oliver Gayner is an Investment Manager based primarily in Sydney. He is also the head of the company's EMEA office in London, which covers the UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa and provides capital and strategic services for disputes in those regions including commercial, multiparty, insolvency, international arbitration and enforcement.
Oliver's practice is strongly international in nature. Since 2012, he has funded commercial litigation and international arbitration cases in the UK, Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore. His experience ranges from M&A and joint venture disputes, to securities, environmental tort and antitrust class actions, to complex international fraud and asset tracing.
Between 2012 and 2015 he worked as Litigation Funding Manager for Burford Capital in the UK; between 2003 and 2012 he was in private practice as dispute resolution lawyer with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP and Olswang LLP in London, where he was a solicitor advocate with Higher Rights of Audience, a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and conducted several secondments in-house at investment banks and a market-leading technology company.
He has degrees in Law (City University) and English (MA 1st class hons, Edinburgh) and is a frequent conference speaker, writer and blogger on issues relating to law, economics and civil justice.
